Co-op Members can fund Worsbrough Family Trail

Barnsley Museums and Heritage Trust has been chosen as one of the Co-op Local Community Fund charities to inspire families to explore the outdoors.
The local community fund is a way that Co-op members and shoppers at the stores within 15 miles of Worsbrough Mill can directly support local communities. Every time Co-op members shop, 1% of what they spend goes into the fund.
What it means for Barnsley Museums and Heritage Trust, if chosen, a new family trail would be created at Worsbrough Country Park providing a safe and free opportunity for people and families to enjoy all the park has to offer.
Worsbrough Mill and Country Park is a 17th century working water mill set in 240 acres of beautiful parkland. Each year thousands of people visit this tranquil setting which is a haven for wildlife within its 60 acre reservoir. The working water mill still produces thousands of tons of organic flour, porridge oats and muesli each year by using traditional methods.
The family trail idea was developed by feedback from visitors and in response the charity would like to encourage families to spend more time together, outside in the fresh air, where they can have fun, play and learn together.
The trail will animate ways of how visitors could identify animals, habitats and wildlife through the seasons. It will also offer opportunities for family activities in the park, games to play and how to spot and identify wildlife on the doorstep throughout the year. The trail will also be available to download from the website or pick up at Worsbrough Mill.
The Learning Service Team from Barnsley Museums would help to develop the idea and they will also involve local families and children in its design.
