New Funding Received to Provide a Further 1,200 Care Packs

7th October 2020

Earlier this year, because of the wonderful BMHT supporters, Barnsley Museums were able to put together physical activity packs for some of our local vulnerable people who may be without internet and were particularly isolated during this difficult time.

The packs included a reminiscing puzzle book, Barnsey Top trumps card game, a DVD with amazing archive footage of bygone Barnsley, and a letter of support from the service. The aim of the packs was to help pass some time and bring a smile, and they proved to be a great success!

They were so well received that we have since been approached by several partner agencies to ask if we could supply more packs to a wider range of recipients.

BMHT have secured £30,000 of funding from HM Government in partnership with the National Lottery Community Fund to provide a further 1,200 care packs across the Borough. These will be distributed to families with young children, young adults aged 16-24, families of children with additional needs and to older people. They will include activities to help with mental well-being, and to promote physical activity and healthy eating and will be tailored to each individual group’s particular needs.  We are very grateful to the National Lottery Community Fund for helping to make this happen.
