Worsbrough Mill Youth Action Volunteers Win Prestigious Award

8th October 2020

We are delighted to share the fantastic news that Worsbrough Mill Youth Action Volunteers have been named Volunteers of the Year at the Museums + Heritage Awards.

Worsbrough Mill Youth Action Volunteers are made up of young people from across Barnsley with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND). The group, supported by Opening Doors and Qdos Creates, give up their time to help improve the outside spaces at Worsbrough Mill Country Park.

The volunteers have made a huge impact, with their work including making wildlife habitats and birdboxes, protecting the environment in the park, creating artistic interpretation for the site and fundraising over £100 in donations.

BMHT have previously secured funding from Youth Social Action Fund, Tesco Bags of Help and the Co-op Community Fund to support the Worsbrough Mill Youth Action Volunteers. Recently, we secured £3,000 in August from D’Oyly Carte to enable the valuable work of this group to continue.

A virtual event was held on Tuesday, 22 September to recognise and celebrate the contributions made by volunteers to the arts and culture sector.
